Le Partenariat reconna\u00eet l&rsquo;importance de respecter les connaissances autochtones et d&rsquo;inclure des repr\u00e9sentants autochtones dans toutes les activit\u00e9s men\u00e9es par le projet. La Convention a \u00e9t\u00e9 ouverte et cl\u00f4tur\u00e9e par un a\u00een\u00e9 de Kahnawake, une communaut\u00e9 autochtone locale situ\u00e9e pr\u00e8s de Montr\u00e9al. Monsieur Charles Otsi&rsquo;tsak\u00e8n:ra Patton et Madame Niioie:ren Patton ont offert des paroles de gratitude accueillant les participants. Otsi&rsquo;tsak\u00e8n:ra, ain\u00e9 du peuple Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) a livr\u00e9 une pri\u00e8re d&rsquo;accueil puis donn\u00e9 quelques explications : \u00ab\u00a0Lorsque des gens se r\u00e9unissent, peu importe l\u2019occasion, les A\u00een\u00e9s du peuple Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) nous ont enseign\u00e9 que nous devions d\u2019abord honorer les forces qui nous donnent vie et qui assureront aussi notre futur. Cette c\u00e9r\u00e9monie a cours depuis la nuit des temps. Auger qui enseigne les \u00e9tudes autochtones \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 d\u2019Athabasca, a offert des explications sur les connaissances autochtones.
